Jay Moody HVAC’s free workshops provide homeowners with in-depth heat pump knowledge and a space for meaningful discussions amongst fellow community members!
Designed specifically for Massachusetts homeowners, Heat Pumps-Everything You Need to Know Before Buying provides an in-depth exploration of essential heat pump topics.
This free event offers a unique opportunity to learn and connect with fellow homeowners while gaining valuable insights from industry experts.
Whether you’re evaluating heat pump proposals, considering installation or even a bit skeptical, this free workshop is designed for Massachusetts homeowners like yourself!
Together, we dive into the different types of heat pumps, examining their efficiency throughout the year. By the end of this section, you’ll better understand key design factors, including the importance of Manual J calculations, the risks of oversized systems and the limitations of “one-size-fits-all” approaches to system design.
Learn the crucial “must-haves” and red flags to watch for when reviewing heat pump contractors and their proposals. Discover the right questions to ask—and the questions contractors should ask you—to help you confidently choose the best system for your home.
Explore a range of incentives and financing options, including the Mass Save program, municipal rebates and IRA federal tax credits. We’ll also walk you through the eligibility requirements and application processes to help you understand applicable heat pump savings.
We’re excited to continue hosting both in-person and virtual heat pump workshops in 2025. See our spring and summer schedule below:
Leo Sharkey brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to Heat Pumps- Everything You Need to Know Before Buying. With a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Leo has leveraged his engineering background to design custom, highly-efficient heat pump systems for hundreds of Massachusetts’ homeowners.
Leo is currently a board member of ACA/NE (Air Conditioning Association of New England) and serves on their Government Affairs Committee.
As the owner of Jay Moody HVAC, Leo strives to raise the industry standard through engineer-designed, and expertly installed, systems. More importantly, Leo aims to empower homeowners to make confident and informed decisions regarding their HVAC systems.
We are committed to making this valuable workshop easily accessible to Massachusetts homeowners.
If you represent a community organization or a group of 10 or more homeowners interested in learning more about heat pumps, we would be happy to bring the workshop to your group! Contact us to schedule a personalized session tailored to your needs.
Yes, questions are encouraged! Our workshop is designed to be highly interactive, with foundational heat pump information to start. We invite participants to ask questions throughout, as it enhances the learning experience and helps homeowners explore factors they may not have considered. Your questions will also benefit others, sparking discussions that deepen understanding for everyone.
Both in-person and virtual workshops cover the same valuable information, but the format may appeal to different learning styles. Virtual workshops are ideal for those with busy schedules or who live farther away, and there’s no capacity limit.
We recommend attending in-person if you’d like to see various heat pump models up close, as we have a selection of indoor and outdoor units for you to explore. However, if you choose the virtual option and later want to view the units in person, you’re always welcome to schedule a visit to our showroom.
The core of the workshop typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on attendee participation (we’ve had some excellent discussions in the past). We also allocate time at the end for additional questions, allowing participants to engage directly with our engineers for further insights.
Yes! The in-person workshops are held in our showroom where a variety of indoor units are on display. At the end of the workshop, the group is invited into the warehouse to see/hear running condensers.
