No ducts? No Problem. See how this Cape-style home in Sterling, Massachusetts improved home comfort and efficiency by installing a mini-split heat pump and hybrid-electric water heater.
This 1965 Cape-style home in Sterling, Massachusetts recently received a comfort upgrade with the installation of two Mitsubishi mini-split heat pumps and a Bosch hybrid-electric hot water heater. Looking for efficient cooling and supplemental heating, the Sterling homeowner contacted Jay Moody HVAC for a tailored solution. Our team installed a partial-home mini-split heat pump system along with a hybrid water heater, creating year-round comfort and efficiency.
"I was very impressed with this company. I had 2 mini splits and water heater all done same day. Very efficient and professional."
- Andrea L.
The home was heated by an oil-fired boiler and had no central cooling. To get through hot, humid Massachusetts summers, the homeowner relied on bulky window AC units. They wanted a long-term, energy-efficient cooling solution that would also provide supplemental heating for the shoulder seasons. At the same time, their aging water heater was reaching the end of its lifespan, making replacement a priority.
To address the homeowner’s cooling needs, Jay Moody HVAC designed and installed two Mitsubishi wall-mounted mini-splits: one in the living room and another in the primary bedroom. Each indoor unit is connected to its own outdoor condenser with one mounted on a pad and stand, and the other on a bracket along the rear of the home. Special care was taken to reduce vibration and maintain quiet operation, while providing targeted comfort to the most used spaces.
For domestic hot water, our team recommended and installed a Bosch hybrid-electric water heater. With Sterling’s relatively low electric rates compared to other Massachusetts towns, this upgrade provided an efficient and cost-effective solution.
At Jay Moody HVAC, every installation is carried out with a focus on quality craftsmanship and a tailored approach. From the first day of scheduling through the in-home consultation, installation and ongoing maintenance, Jay Moody HVAC’s team works to keep homeowners confident, informed and supported at each stage of the project.
The hybrid-electric water heater was installed by our licensed master plumber, and all electrical work was completed by our in-house electrical team. As a full-service HVAC, plumbing and electrical provider, Jay Moody HVAC delivered the project from start to finish with no need for outside contractors.
During the installation, the Jay Moody HVAC technicians worked with care and respect for the home, using protective coverings, bootie and overall clean work practices. Upon completion, the lead installer conducted a final walk-through, showing the homeowner how to operate and maintain their new heat pump and water heater for long-lasting comfort.
The homeowner also enrolled in a maintenance plan for their existing boiler, gaining proactive scheduling, seasonal emergency access and yearly credit toward future replacements.
As a Mitsubishi Diamond Elite Contractor, Jay Moody HVAC offers an extended 12-year warranty on Mitsubishi systems along with our own 2-year workmanship warranty on all installation work. Jay Moody HVAC’s office support staff happily registered all equipment warranties on the customer’s behalf, for a stress-free process!
