Learn about the 2026 Mass Save® Program, including updated heat pump rebates, eligibility requirements and the 0% HEAT Loan.
Mass Save ® is a statewide energy-efficiency initiative sponsored by select Massachusetts electric utility providers. The program was developed to support Massachusetts residents and businesses to reduce energy usage and support upgrades to energy-efficient appliances through rebates, 0% financing and additional resources.

If you are a Massachusetts homeowner planning a heat pump project in 2026, there are important updates to Mass Save ® incentive amounts and eligibility.
In the article below, we discuss:
The Mass Save Program provides guidance, rebates, and loans for qualifying energy-efficient improvements. These include weatherization options like added insulation as well as efficiency upgrades like heat pumps.
Residents and Businesses that receive electric or gas service from any of the following Mass Save Sponsors can qualify for the Mass Save ® program:
Massachusetts homeowners who do not have a Mass Save Sponsor as their utility providers, may still be eligible for energy incentives through their town and/or municipal electric providers.
Mass Save® offers several types of residential mail-in heat pump rebates for Massachusetts homeowners:

To receive Mass Save® heat pump rebates, the system must meet specific program requirements. The heat pump equipment used must be listed on Mass Save’s Heat Pump Qualified Product List (HPQPL) and be ENERGY STAR® Cold Climate certified.
Starting January 1, 2026, R410A models will no longer be eligible under updated EPA refrigerant guidelines.
Your installation must also be completed by a contractor in the Mass Save® Heat Pump Installer Network (HPIN), such as Jay Moody HVAC, to ensure your system meets all standards and qualifies for available heat pump rebates.
The Mass Save® program was officially founded in 2008 and is fully funded through 2027. In this time, the program has experienced changes to its incentive offerings, processes and requirements.
2026 Mass Save® Air-Source Heat Pump Changes:
Ground-Source Heat Pump Rebates Remain the Same in 2026:
The Mass Save® HEAT Loan provides 0% financing up to $25,000 for qualifying projects such as heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, weatherization and related upgrades. Loan approval is through participating lenders, and you must follow the application steps to receive an Authorization Form before work starts. The maximum financeable amount is $25,000 (no change from 2025).

Choosing, sizing and documenting a qualifying heat pump is a complicated process. Jay Moody HVAC is a Mass Save® HPIN contractor.
We support homeowners from start to finish:
Yes. Enhanced incentives are available for eligible households, with higher caps and, in some cases, low-or no-cost incentives. Review enhanced options on the Mass Save® website, linked here.
If you would like to keep your existing furnace or boiler in place for continued use, you will not qualify for Mass Save’s® whole-home heat pump rebate. No worries though! Your project may qualify for a partial-home rebate or basic heat pump rebate. Jay Moody HVAC’s degreed engineers will outline all available energy incentives directly in your written proposal,
Mass Save® heat pump rebates are mail-in rebates. A mail-in rebate is a refund homeowners receive after their project is completed and approved.
Once your system is installed, your contractor provides the required documentation, which is then submitted to Mass Save® for processing and approval. Once processed, the rebate check is mailed to you, typically within 8-10 weeks.
At Jay Moody HVAC, we simplify this by offering instant rebates on eligible installations, so you don’t have to wait for a check to arrive. We will also help you submit all necessary rebate and HEAT Loan documentation!
A Mass Save® home energy assessment is a free service offered through the Mass Save® program that evaluates how efficiently your home uses energy. During the visit, an “energy specialist” partnering with Mass Save® will check your home’s insulation, air sealing, heating, cooling, lighting and more to identify opportunities for improvement.
If you’re applying for a Mass Save® whole-home rebate or the Mass Save® HEAT Loan, an energy assessment is required before your heat pump installation.
Call (866) 527-7283 to schedule your home energy assessment!
To qualify for the whole-home heat pump rebate, Mass Save® requires homes to meet certain weatherization standards, such as insulation, to ensure efficiency and comfort. This will be determined during your free Mass Save home energy assessment and Jay Moody HVAC is happy to support you in navigating the requirements for your project.
