Mass Save recently announced significant changes to the program’s fuel incentives, which may affect you as a Massachusetts homeowner.
In 2024 Mass Save will completely phase out fossil fuel incentives.
After August 2024, Mass Save will no longer offer incentives for high-efficiency fossil-fuel systems.
As part of this transition, Mass Save HEAT Loan applications for fuel systems must be approved by April 31st, 2024. System installations must then be completed by August 31st, 2024, to qualify for Mass Save incentives.
What does this mean for you?
If you’re considering upgrading your heating system to an efficient fuel system, we encourage you to do so while your system may still qualify for Mass Save 0% financing and rebates.
This is especially relevant for homeowners whose current fuel systems are approaching the end of their system lifespan of 15 years or older.
Mass Save Phases Out Fuel Incentives in 2024
For the past several years, the Mass Save program has offered various incentive amounts for fuel boilers, furnaces and water heaters. By the end of 2024, however, Mass Save will no longer offer incentives for fossil fuel systems.
Mass Save states that all fossil fuel equipment must be installed by August 31, 2024, and the rebate application submitted/postmarked by September 30, 2024, to be eligible.
Mass Save will, however, continue to offer incentives for applicable home weatherization and heat pump installations throughout the end of 2024 and, most likely, onward.
2024 Mass Save Furnace & Boiler Rebates
Mass Save offers rebates for qualifying fuel furnaces and boilers until the end of August 2024.
High-efficiency gas furnaces, oil furnaces and high-efficiency gas boilers are eligible for Mass Save rebates of up to $1,500.
See Mass Saves 2024 residential fossil fuel rebates, below.
To qualify for Mass Save rebates, your fossil fuel system must be fully installed by August 31, 2024. Additionally, the rebate application must be submitted to Mass Save by September 30, 2024.
