How Mass Save Works
Home Energy Assessment
Complete Any Necessary Weatherization
Any weatherization upgrades recommended during the Home Energy Assessment must be completed before the installation.
Receive a System Quote
Once your Home Energy Assessment has been scheduled, it is time to pick a qualified contractor to provide a quote and install your new system. When choosing a contractor, keep in mind the following…
Qualified Contractor
To qualify, your system must be installed by a member of the Heat Pump Installer Network (HPIN).
Jay Moody HVAC is a proud member of the HPIN.
Manual J Calculation
Manual J calculations are required for specific rebates and loans.
Jay Moody HVAC performs Manual J calculations in-home during your estimate to guarantee proper system design.
Ensure Equipment Qualifies
To receive Mass Save incentives, heat-pump equipment must be on the HPQPL list, or for fuel based systems, must meet efficiency guidelines.
Jay Moody HVAC includes all applicable incentives within our written proposals.
Applying for a HEAT Loan
If you qualify for, and would like to utilize, the HEAT loan, you must submit a loan application prior to your installation.
Mass Save qualifies your project and a participating lender approves the loan and distributes funds. For more information, visit MassSave.com
Jay Moody HVAC is happy to assist customers by filling out their HEAT loan applications!
Complete System Installation
Once the previous steps have been completed, your installation may proceed.
You are responsible for the full cost of your installation due upon the day of the installation’s completion.
This includes the amount of any rebates that Mass Save is expected to approve and disperse to you following your installation and rebate submission.
Submit Rebate Application
Rebate applications are submitted to Mass Save following the completion of your system installation.
Jay Moody HVAC will assist you in submitting your rebate application once the project is paid in full and all required documents have been provided.
Please be aware that Jay Moody HVAC has no control over the process or timeline of Mass Save’s rebate approval/distribution.

FAQ
Do I qualify for the Mass Save Program?
To qualify for the Mass Save program you must live in Massachusetts and be a customer of one of the following participating electric utility companies:
- National Grid
- Unitil
- Eversource
- Liberty
- Berkshire Gas
- Cape Light Compact
Municipal electric customers can participate in the Mass Save program if their home is heated with natural gas, provided by a Mass Save Program Sponsor (listed above).
When will I receive my rebate?
Mass Save projects the distribution of rebates within 10–12 weeks of approving the rebate application.
We will assist in submitting your rebate applications once the job is completed, fully paid for, and we have received all necessary paperwork from you!
Please be aware that Jay Moody HVAC has no control over the process or timeline of rebate approval or distribution.
You are responsible for the full cost of your installation, including the amount of any rebates expected to be distributed to you by Mass Save.
What does my HEAT Loan cover?
The HEAT Loan covers the total invoice price of your qualifying installation minus your rebate amount, up to $50,000.
The HEAT Loan does not include the rebate amount expected to be dispersed to you following your install.
If your system qualifies for the HEAT loan and rebate, the break down will look like this:
HEAT Loan (up to $50,000) = Cost of System – Expected Rebate
For instance, if your new system costs $50,000 and you qualify for a $10,000 Mass Save rebate and a $50,000 HEAT loan with 0% financing, it will look like this:
$40,000 Loan = $50,000 Installation -$10,00 Rebate
You are responsible for paying the full amount of your installation upon its completion, including the rebate amount expected to be distributed to you by Mass Save.
Can I finance my rebate amount?
Yes, you can finance your rebate amount!
Jay Moody HVAC offers third party financing options through Synchrony Bank.
Many of our customers choose to utilize this financing option to cover the upfront cost of their system as they wait for their rebate to be distributed to them.
Can I finance my entire installation?
Jay Moody HVAC offers financing options through Synchrony Bank.
Synchrony Bank financing can be used as an alternative, or in addition, to the HEAT Loan, pending approval of your loan application.
Our team is happy to further discuss financing options with you during your in-home consultation!
